The Jammu and Kashmir fencing team delivered a stellar performance to clinch the gold medal in the men’s sabre team event at the 36th Senior National Fencing Championship held in New Delhi today.
In an electrifying final bout, J&K outclassed Maharashtra 45–38 to secure the top podium position. SSCB and Uttar Pradesh settled for bronze medals.
The triumphant J&K squad featured Vishal Thapar, Harshit Kohli, Sagar Sahi, and Mayank Sharma, with Rashid Ahmed Choudhary serving as the international referee for the event.
J&K’s entry into the final was equally dramatic. The team edged past SSCB in a nail-biting semifinal that ended 45–44, while Maharashtra earned its place in the title clash after defeating Uttar Pradesh 45–29.

- Haryana stamped its dominance, defeating Maharashtra 45–24 to win gold. Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh claimed the bronze.
- Men’s Foil Team Final:
- SSCB secured gold after a convincing 45–26 victory over Haryana, while Tamil Nadu and Punjab took home bronze medals.
