Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, on Monday inaugurated a state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports hall in the Khour area, marking a significant step towards strengthening sports infrastructure in the border regions of the Union Territory.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Government is working with earnest commitment to provide modern, accessible and inclusive sports facilities to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He said special focus is being laid on rural and border belts to promote a strong sports culture, discipline and a healthy lifestyle among young people.
“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a crucial role in identifying, nurturing and grooming sporting talent. Our aim is to ensure that no talented youth is deprived of opportunities due to lack of facilities,” the Minister said.
World-Class Facilities Under One Roof
The newly inaugurated multipurpose indoor hall has been designed to accommodate multiple sports disciplines simultaneously. It includes facilities for three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, two judo courts, along with two wrestling and kabaddi courts, providing a comprehensive training environment for athletes.
Interaction with Youth
Satish Sharma also interacted with local youth and sportspersons and urged them to make optimal use of the facility. He assured that the government will continue to prioritise sports infrastructure development, youth engagement and talent promotion across Jammu and Kashmir.
The inauguration of the indoor sports hall is expected to give a major boost to sporting activities in the Khour area and adjoining regions, enabling young athletes to access modern, world-class facilities close to their homes.
