In a major move against drug trafficking, Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached immovable property valued at approximately ₹1.20 crore, owned by notorious drug peddler Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, as part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir initiative.
Acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, officials from Police Station Nowhatta carried out this attachment related to FIR No. 61/2019, which involves charges under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.
The attached assets consist of a fully refurbished three-storey residential house, along with a separate single-storey concrete kitchen block that houses three washrooms, and a plot of land measuring 09 marlas.
Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, the son of Habibullah Sheikh, resides in Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal, and has come under scrutiny as part of the dedicated efforts to combat drug-related crimes.
Police sources confirmed that investigations revealed the property was acquired using the proceeds of illegal drug trafficking operations. Following due legal processes, authorities identified these assets as illegally obtained, allowing for their attachment under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
This decisive action highlights Srinagar Police’s firm commitment to dismantling the financial networks that support drug trafficking and to eliminating the narcotic threat from society. Authorities have reiterated their determination to intensify operations against drug peddlers.
The public’s role remains crucial, with police urging citizens to report any information related to drug abuse or trafficking activities. Collaborating with law enforcement can significantly bolster efforts to create a drug-free environment in Jammu and Kashmir.
