CM Omar Abdullah Addresses Northern Zonal Council Meeting; Calls for Stronger Cooperation and Balanced Approach to Counter Terrorism

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today participated in the 32nd meeting of the Northern Zonal Council (NZC) held in Faridabad. The meeting was chaired by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah.

During his address, Omar Abdullah highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the J&K Government, including the launch of Mission YUVA, a focused programme aimed at empowering youth through education, skill development, sports, and entrepreneurship.

He underscored the Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the education sector, expand sports infrastructure, and build a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem across the Union Territory.

Expressing gratitude to the Centre, the Chief Minister acknowledged the continued financial support, particularly the extension of the SASCI Scheme to Jammu & Kashmir.

Omar Abdullah emphasised the importance of the Northern Zonal Council as a platform for enhanced cooperation among participating States and Union Territories. He reiterated that J&K remains firmly committed to national development with unwavering faith in democratic institutions.

Touching upon recent terror incidents in the region, the Chief Minister called for a determined fight against terrorism, while cautioning against casting unwarranted suspicion on ordinary citizens.

“Every resident of J&K should not be viewed with doubt. The people of Jammu & Kashmir are peace-loving and aspire for Viksit Bharat and Viksit Jammu & Kashmir. They want to contribute to India’s growth story, and the enthusiastic voter turnout in the recent Nagrota and Budgam by-elections is a testament to their strong faith in democracy,” he said.
