Jammu & Kashmir delivered a dominant all-round performance to beat Goa by 50 runs in the ongoing U-23 Men’s State-A Trophy at the Motibaug Cricket Stadium today. The victory was shaped by a brilliant century from Rydham Sharma, a solid half-century from Basit Nazir, and a match-winning bowling spell by Atif Bin Mushtaq.
Opting to bat first, J&K posted a strong total of 287 runs in 50 overs. Rydham Sharma led the charge with a superb 100 off 82 balls, studded with 10 fours and 3 sixes. He was well supported by Basit Nazir, who struck 52 off 65 balls, and Mousub Mohd Bhat, who contributed a crucial 44 runs. For Goa, Lakhmesh Pawane picked up 4 wickets, while Chittem and Kulbudin took two wickets each.
Chasing 288, Goa could manage only 227 runs, despite notable efforts from Chittem (91) and Malhar Naik (51). J&K’s bowling attack proved too good, led by Atif Bin Mushtaq, who produced stunning figures of 4/38 in 10 overs. He received strong support from Asif Muzzafar (3 wickets), Basit Bashir (2 wickets), and Archit Mahajan (1 wicket).
The emphatic win showcased J&K’s impressive balance in both batting and bowling, reinforcing their rising stature in domestic cricket. The team will look to maintain this momentum as the tournament progresses.
