Baramulla Student Nasir Aejaz Sufi Selected to Represent India at World School Volleyball Championship in China

In a remarkable sporting achievement, Nasir Aejaz Sufi, a student of a Government School in Baramulla, has been selected to represent India at the World School Volleyball Championship (U-15), scheduled to be held from December 4 to 13 in Shangluo, China.

Nasir earned his place after clearing rigorous nationwide trials conducted by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), with final selections made in Pune. Following his selection, he received intensive training at the national coaching camp in Ranchi, Jharkhand, building upon the strong foundation he developed in Jammu & Kashmir under the expert coaching of Azhar Raina and Naresh Kumar, and guidance from Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), J&K.

The Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, congratulated Nasir, his parents, and his coaches, praising his dedication and acknowledging the structured support system provided by J&K’s sports ecosystem.

Officials said the achievement marks the beginning of a promising sporting journey, expressing confidence that Nasir’s selection will inspire countless young athletes across the Union Territory to pursue excellence at national and international levels.

Nasir’s selection underscores the immense sporting potential nurtured within J&K’s government schools and highlights the transformative impact of dedicated coaching and institutional support in shaping future champions.
