Discussion Between CEC Tashi Gyalson and Live to Love International on Climate Initiatives

Leh, Oct 7: Hon’ble Chairman/CEC Adv. Tashi Gyalson, LAHDC,Leh called upon a delegation from Live to Love International to discuss various initiatives aimed at addressing climate change in the region.The delegation included Carrie Lee (Advisor), Rigzin Angmo (On ground Lead, Leh), Simran Gulati (Communications Officer), Tashi Angmo (Finance), Padma Tashi (Director, Live to Love India), and Mahima Shiva (Program Lead).The discussion focused on raising awareness about climate change and exploring effective measures to mitigate its impact on Ladakh’s unique environment.CEC Tashi Gyalson highlighted various initiatives taken by LAHDC which included significant plantation drive in locations such as Chushul, Kuyul, Takmachik, and Nyoma. He emphasized the council efforts to support irrigation projects and climate resilience measures which includes hosting the Climate Cup and the Climate 11 Summit, alongside providing subsidies and support for electric vehicles.Carrie Lee proposed that Ladakh could serve as a model for climate change initiatives, advocating for the need to attract more experts and identify a local ambassador to represent Ladakh on international platforms.The meeting highlighted a shared commitment to fostering sustainable development in Ladakh while enhancing community awareness about climate change. Both LAHDC and Live to Love International look forward to collaborating on future projects that promote environmental sustainability in the region.
