Doda Police Warn Public Against Sharing Old Bhaderwah Video With Misleading Narratives

Jammu and Kashmir Police has appealed to the public not to circulate an old video related to a 2022 incident in Bhaderwah, warning that the content is being shared on social media with misleading and distorted narratives that could disrupt communal harmony and public peace.

According to a police spokesperson, the video pertains to an incident that took place on June 9, 2022, for which a case was duly registered at Bhaderwah Police Station and investigated by the authorities.

“It has come to the notice of Doda Police that an old video relating to an incident that occurred in Bhaderwah in June 2022 is being circulated on various social media platforms with misleading and distorted narratives, causing unnecessary concern and apprehension among members of the public,” the spokesperson said.

The police clarified that the incident is not recent and emphasized that the ongoing circulation of the old footage without proper context, along with false or misleading claims, has the potential to create confusion, spread misinformation, and adversely affect public tranquillity.

Citizens have been urged to verify the authenticity of information through official sources before forwarding or sharing any content on social media. The police stressed that responsible use of digital platforms is essential for maintaining communal harmony, public peace, and social cohesion.

The spokesperson further warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found deliberately circulating misleading content, spreading false information, promoting hatred, inciting communal disharmony, or attempting to create panic and disturb public order through social media or any other medium.

Reiterating its commitment to maintaining law and order, Doda Police appealed to the public to rely only on authentic information disseminated through official and authorized channels and to refrain from sharing unverified content.
