Akhilesh Yadav Demands CDR Probe in Ram Temple Donation Case, Levels Fresh Allegations Against BJP

Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday intensified his attack over the alleged Ram temple donation embezzlement case, demanding that the call detail records (CDRs) of all individuals employed at the Ayodhya temple be examined.

Speaking to reporters, the Samajwadi Party chief claimed that scrutiny of the CDRs would reveal that “99.9 per cent” of those working at the temple had links with the Bharatiya Janata Party, adding that such findings would trigger “turmoil” within the ruling party. He also alleged that several people had already begun distancing themselves from the BJP and were contacting his party.

Referring to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple, Yadav said the issue had become a matter of discussion in households across the country.

He accused the BJP of prioritising electoral gains over religious values, alleging that the party changes its ideology according to political convenience.

“The BJP changes its ideas for votes. For them, money is more important than religion,” Yadav said, while questioning the accountability of those who had entrusted responsibilities related to the temple’s management.

Claiming irregularities in the handling of donations and offerings made by devotees, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister alleged that misappropriation of religious offerings was a grave offence in Sanatan Dharma and had deeply hurt the sentiments of devotees.

Responding to allegations made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey regarding his alleged links with one of the accused, Ramshankar alias Tinnu Yadav, Akhilesh questioned why no FIR had been registered against the ruling party despite the allegations being raised.

Meanwhile, the SIT has arrested eight accused in connection with the alleged embezzlement of cash offerings at the Ram temple. Amid increasing scrutiny, the temple trust recently accepted the resignations of its General Secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra, and appointed Krishna Mohan as the interim General Secretary.
