Himachal Congress should answer governance failures, not politicise faith: Kangana

BJP MP from Mandi Kangana Ranaut accused the Congress of attempting to derive political mileage from the Ram Temple issue, alleging that the party, which had opposed the temple’s construction for years, was now trying to exploit public faith for electoral gains.

Addressing the issue in a statement, Kangna Ranaut said the Himachal Congress had failed in its attempt to build a political narrative around Lord Ram and the Ram Temple, asserting that people across the state and the country were fully aware of what she described as the party’s “double standards”.

She said Lord Ram represented the faith of millions of Indians and that the construction of the Ram Temple became possible only after centuries of struggle, sacrifice and devotion.

She alleged that the Congress had consistently pursued appeasement politics and attempted to obstruct the temple’s construction.

Now, after the completion of the grand temple in Ayodhya, which she termed a symbol of national pride and faith, the party was trying to use the issue for political advantage, she claimed.

The MP also targeted the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, alleging that it had attempted to exercise control over the funds and resources of temples and religious institutions in the state.

She claimed that the government had sought to utilise temple funds for various government schemes, adding that such actions exposed the Congress’s approach towards religious institutions.South Asians & Diaspora

In these circumstances, Ranaut said, Congress leaders speaking about the Ram Temple and religious faith reflected political opportunism rather than genuine respect for public sentiments.

Kangna Ranaut maintained that the BJP had consistently worked for the protection of Sanatan culture, religious traditions and India’s civilisational heritage.

According to her, the BJP had never treated faith as an instrument of vote-bank politics but had always regarded it as an inseparable part of the country’s cultural identity.

She further alleged that the people had now recognised the Congress party’s political approach and true character.

She said the people of Himachal Pradesh expected development, good governance and public welfare rather than attempts to politicise matters of faith.

Instead of raising political controversies over the Ram Temple, the Congress government should focus on fulfilling the promises it had made to the people and answer for what she termed its failures in governance, she added.
