Delhi HC Permits Engineer Rashid’s Visit to Ailing Father

The Delhi High Court granted jailed Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid permission on Tuesday to visit his ailing father at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) under strict police escort. This decision came as a response to a plea for temporary relief, highlighting the critical health condition of Rashid’s father.

The court specified that the visit should proceed under humanitarian grounds. Authorities must ensure adequate security arrangements, strictly supervising the movement and stay of the MP during his visit. The High Court recommended a time-bound visit to ensure compliance with the necessary safety protocols.

Currently in judicial custody, Engineer Rashid sought the court’s intervention due to the grave circumstances surrounding his father’s health. The court acknowledged the urgency of the issue, approving the request while emphasizing the importance of following security protocols.

The situation escalated as Engineer Rashid’s father underwent significant treatment at AIIMS, prompting the MP to seek legal assistance for the visit. The court’s decision underscores the judiciary’s commitment to balancing the rights of inmates with humanitarian considerations.

Further details regarding the specific duration and modalities of the visit are expected to be finalized by the appropriate authorities. The ongoing case has highlighted the sensitive intersection of healthcare and legal protocols, reminding the public of the need for compassion within the justice system.
