J&K Government Relief & Land Allotment for Disaster-Affected Families

  • J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced that the government has approved allotment of five marlas of state land to each landless family affected by natural calamities in 2025.
  • The land will be given on a 40-year lease for residential purposes.
  • Beneficiaries will not pay any premium, but will pay a ground rent of Rs 10 per marla per year.
  • The lease may be extended further as per rules with approval from the competent authority.
  • The decision was cleared by the Council of Ministers and formalized through a government order issued on January 2.

Financial Assistance in Udhampur District

  • Over 6,400 families affected by flash floods and landslides in Udhampur district received more than Rs 23.49 crore in relief.
  • Tehsil-wise assistance:
  • Udhampur: 2,666 families — ~Rs 9.32 crore
  • Chenani: 1,208 families — over Rs 5 crore
  • Ramnagar: 2,298 families — ~Rs 7.86 crore
  • Latti-Marothi: 277 families — over Rs 1 crore
  • Damage assessments were conducted by field teams and compensation was distributed as per SDRF norms, directly to beneficiaries.

PM Modi Chairs 11th NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting; CMs, UT Heads Attend

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi. The high-level meeting brought together Chief Ministers of States and Union Territories, Lieutenant Governors and Administrators of Union Territories, Union Ministers serving as ex officio members, along with special invitees. The Vice Chairman, members, and Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog are also present. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are also present at the meeting. Several Chief Ministers, including Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Assam's Himanta Biswa Sarma, Bihar's Samrat Choudhary, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, also participated in the meeting. Newly elected Chief Ministers and leaders, including West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari, Tamil Nadu CM C Joseph Vijay, Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar and Keralam CM VD Satheesan, are also present in the meeting.
