Training Session on functioning of Price Monitoring Centres held at Kargil

Kargil, October 11, 2024: A training cum capacity building session on the functioning of the Price Monitoring Centre for daily reporting of the prices of the 38 select Essential Commodities was held by the Department of Consumer Affairs (Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, GoI) in collaboration with the FCS&CA Department Kargil on Thursday here.The training session was presided over by the Director Department of Consumer Affairs (MoCAF&PD, GoI), Subhash Chandra Meena and Junior Statistical Officer (DoCA, MoCAF&PD, GoI), Sandeep Kumar delivered key lecture on the topic.The Director FCS&CA Department UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain, AD FCS&CA Department Kargil, Khanzada Mohd Usman, Chief Inspector, TSOs, market checking squads and other concerned officials of the department attended the training cum capacity building session.The training program aimed to apprise the officials of the FCS&CA Department about the process of price data collection and ensure efficient monitoring of the prices of 38 Essential Commodities to track their prices as is done in other places of the country.During the session, Subhash Chandra Meena provided detailed insights about the functioning of Price Monitoring Centres and the Methodology adapted for the collection of the data so that a realistic picture of the prices of the ECs is achieved at national level.He emphasized the importance of Ladakh’s inclusion in this national platform to monitor essential commodity prices efficiently, allowing the authorities to take necessary steps in time.The officials put forth their suggestions and experiences regarding the price monitoring and collection and thorough discussion was held to streamline the process in the district.

PM Modi Chairs 11th NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting; CMs, UT Heads Attend

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi. The high-level meeting brought together Chief Ministers of States and Union Territories, Lieutenant Governors and Administrators of Union Territories, Union Ministers serving as ex officio members, along with special invitees. The Vice Chairman, members, and Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog are also present. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are also present at the meeting.
