Union Minister Giriraj Singh visits Kargil, interacts with women entrepreneurs, focuses on integrated livelihood projects Kargil,

October 08, 2024: Hon’ble Union Minister for Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh on Sunday (October 06) visited Kargil headquarters, Drass Subdivision and Haniskote and interacted with self-employed women involved in handloom sector and Self-Help Groups, as well as with various stakeholders.The Minister interacted with Pashmina growers and artisans at Heniskot, kargil as well as Drass , visited Drass War Memorial to pay tribute to martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War.Union Minister engaged with local entrepreneurs and self help groups encouraging various developmental initiatives related to pashmina sector development.

He also emphasized that the aim of govt of India is to serve the people of Ladakh, bringing governance to doorsteps. He noted that since the formation of the Union Territory, significant changes have occurred, including improvements in water supply, road and tele-connectivity as well as jobs. Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; Senior Superintendent of Police, Shree Ram R; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr. Mohd Ismail; Assistant Director Handloom, Dr. Kacho Niyazul Hassan; and other concerned officials accompanied the Union Minister during the tour.Speaking on the occasion during women artisans, the Union Minister informed that the Ministry is committed to provide dedicated marketing space for them at Delhi and other major cities. He highlighted the aims and objectives of the RWANDA model , which focuses on expanding livelihoods through the NRLM and increasing the population of the pashmina breed through sheep husbandry.During the interaction, a woman entrepreneur and various stakeholders presented a memorandum regarding handloom and handicraft training, as well as animal protection shelters from brown bears.The Union Minister also engaged with mushroom producers and expressed optimism about their achievements. He urged the officials to involve more women in this sector and create clusters to enhance production.

PM Modi Chairs 11th NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting; CMs, UT Heads Attend

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi. The high-level meeting brought together Chief Ministers of States and Union Territories, Lieutenant Governors and Administrators of Union Territories, Union Ministers serving as ex officio members, along with special invitees. The Vice Chairman, members, and Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog are also present. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are also present at the meeting.
